A new Flex standard to help specify BIM along the supply chain
What’s happened and why?
The UK BIM Framework is a collection of BSI standards, guidance, and tools that support the adoption of information management using Building Information Modelling (BIM) within the UK. Contracting authorities should adopt the UK BIM Framework along the supply chain. BSI Flex 1965 will help those producing specifications and those who respond to such specifications stay on the same information management page.
What does BSI Flex 1965: v1.0 2022 cover?
It describes methods of specifying the UK BIM Framework when procuring services which contain an information management element.
It does so by identifying the features and characteristics to be considered, to support a specifier in producing clear and unambiguous requirements.
Why use BSI Flex 1965: v1.0 2022?
This Flex aims to make it easier for contracting authorities, such as clients, to use the UK BIM Framework to standardize the approach to generating and classifying data, data security and data exchange. It should produce specifications relating to information management that are clear and unambiguous, reducing confusion and disputes.
Using BSI Flex 1965 can also accelerate innovation, develop expertise and improve efficiency.
