New ICT/1/1/2 quantum technology panel
The British Standards Institution (BSI), with support from NPL, is launching a new panel to bring together interested parties from across the UK quantum technology landscape. As we gather more members over the coming weeks, we can begin to identify UK priorities for new standards work in the field of quantum technologies. The more diverse subject areas we have represented on the group, the more we can be confident in the direction of standards development.
Membership of the panel will give access to draft documents being considered by various international standards organisations and the opportunity to comment and feed back. Members will be invited to give their input to the priorities for the development of new best-practice or agreed specifications documents which will speed innovation for the UK community.
This panel will also coordinate, where appropriate, a UK approach to feed into the various international standards development programmes. Currently, for example, there is European quantum technology standards roadmap in discussions (CEN/CENELEC), an international document on vocabulary for quantum computing (ISO/IEC) and other work being carried out by ETSI, ITU and IEEE. More details on these organisations and standards development processes under way will be provided in the panel.
