ISO 13849 Series - Safety-Related Parts of Control Systems

Ensure the reliability and safe use of machinery by applying this series on the design and validation of safety-related parts of control systems.

Design and assess machine safety control systems confidently and consistently.

This international standard series provides guidance for the design and integration of the parts of control systems that perform safety functions in machinery.

The two-part standard series ISO 13849 applies to safety-related parts of control systems for high demand and continous mode. This includes their subsystems, regardless of the type of technology and energy (e.g. electrical, pneumatic, mechanical). Part 1 of the standard relates to general principles for design and part 2 is for validation.

The standards are relevant in all machinery-related sectors and are particularly useful for machine manufacturers, health and safety bodies, machine users and services providers.
