Whether you're a manufacturer or authorized representation placing low voltage electrical equipment on the EU market, you'll need to comply with the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).
The LVD lays down 11 safety objectives that all low voltage electrical equipment must conform to. It applies to consumer and capital goods designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V AC, and between 75 and 1500 V DC. This includes electrical appliances, lighting equipment, electrical wiring, appliance couplers and cord sets, electrical installation equipment. It also includes electrical equipment intended for incorporation into other equipment such as transformers and motors.
