WPH Digital are first globally in sector to achieve BSI AI certification

20 April 2026: WPH Digital Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based leader in AI and IT consulting, has become the first digital business in Asia – and the first globally in the oil and gas sector – a global standard promoting good governance around artificial intelligence (AI).

BSI assessed WPH Digital against the provisions of the Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) (ISO/IEC 42001) standard, a globally recognised framework designed to ensure the safe, responsible and trustworthy use of AI. The standard is designed to support organizations to manage AI risks effectively while building confidence in its deployment across business and society. Only a small number of organizations have so far been certified against it, with BSI accredited by ANAB, UKAS and RvA to provide independent assessment of whether the criteria has been met.

ISO/IEC 42001 provides a structured approach to establishing, implementing and continuously improving AI management systems, with a strong emphasis on governance and safeguards. It addresses critical challenges such as opaque decision-making, the use of machine learning in place of human-coded logic, and the need for continuous system learning. The standard also aims to drive robust risk assessment, clear controls across AI systems and services and a culture of quality and accountability.

With more than 20 years of experience, WPH Digital is a trusted digital transformation partner, helping organisations scale through GenAI, low-code and cloud-native technologies to deliver intelligent, future-ready solutions. As part of the ISO/IEC 42001 certification process, WPH Digital demonstrated a clear, risk-based approach to managing artificial intelligence. The assessment highlighted strong leadership involvement and well-defined governance arrangements that support effective coordination across teams and alignment with AI objectives.

Global research undertaken by BSI last year found that less than a quarter (24%) of business leaders reported that their organization had an AI governance programme, highlighting the striking absence of safeguards in place across the economy.

Omkar Joshi, Global Managing Director, AI & Digital Solutions, BSI, said:

“AI is transforming how organizations operate and deliver value, creating new opportunities to accelerate progress towards a better and more sustainable future. WPH Digital’s certification shows how digital leaders can embed governance, transparency and accountability at the core of AI innovation. By aligning with this international standard, WPH Digital is strengthening trust with clients, stakeholders and regulators, while ensuring AI is deployed safely, responsibly and at scale.”

Vincent Leoh, Managing Director, WPH Digital Pte. Ltd., said: “Issued by BSI through a rigorous, formal audit, this milestone reinforces our commitment to responsible AI governance, security and enterprise-grade reliability.

“As AI adoption accelerates across industries, strong governance frameworks matter. This certification reflects our continued focus on delivering AI systems that meet internationally recognized standards.”
