24 July 2025: BSI, the business improvement and standards company, in collaboration with the FDCO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) will be welcoming private sector enterprises and government stakeholders to a presentation event in Nigeria on Thursday 24th July 2025, as part of its Standards Partnership programme.
The programme, which officially launched in 2023, in 11 countries and island regions including Nigeria, aims to enhance trade and boost sustainable and inclusive growth through the use of international standards.
The event, to be held in Abuja, Nigeria, will highlight the activities to be delivered during this year of the programme, with the focus on supporting Nigerian enterprises in key sectors, open up trade opportunities. Attendees at the event will hear how the programme is helping enhance Nigeria’s quality infrastructure, to unlock sustainable economic development. It will deepen technical cooperation and support to the National Quality Council (NQC), support the implementation of Nigeria’s National Quality Policy (NQP), and continue strengthening and building the capacity of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and the Nigerian National Accreditation System (NiNAS).

The Standards Partnership programme is an integral part of the UK Government’s Centre of Expertise (CoE) for Economic Development and Trade, meeting the approach of using international standards as tools to support trade objectives and helping to build resilient supply chains. The UK Government has committed £3m of funding to this programme globally.
