About BS 30416 and BS ISO 45010

BS 30416 provided the foundation for BS ISO 45010, which is now the current standard for supporting menopause and menstrual health at work.

BS 30416 provided the foundation for BS ISO 45010, which has been developed through international collaboration and consensus.

When a British Standard becomes an ISO standard, the British Standard is then withdrawn. This does not necessarily mean the guidance is incorrect or outdated. It means the ISO standard becomes the reference point for organizations using this guidance. Now BS ISO 45010 is published, BS 30416 is only available as a withdrawn publication and no longer carries the status of a British Standard.
British Standards can provide the foundation for international standards when there is wider global interest in a particular topic. This allows experts from around the world to contribute to the development of a single, agreed approach that organizations can use internationally.
There is no mandatory deadline to transition, as BS ISO 45010 is guidance rather than a certifiable requirement.

If you are already using BS 30416, we recommend reviewing your current approach against BS ISO 45010 and updating any references to BS 30416 in your policies or guidance materials.
BS ISO 45010 builds directly on BS 30416. It covers the same core areas, including policy, role and work design, the physical workplace and organizational culture. The main differences are the international consultation behind it and some expanded content like additional practical actions, templates, information on disclosure and privacy, and guidance on how it aligns with BS ISO 45001. If you're already using BS 30416, much of your existing approach will remain relevant.
