    This short awareness course introduces the purpose and context of BS 30480, the UK’s first workplace standard addressing suicide prevention and support. The course explores why it was developed, who it is intended for, and how it can support organisations in fostering safer, more compassionate workplace environments.

    You will also learn about the impact of suicide within workplace communities, how to use appropriate and sensitive language when discussing the topic, and how to challenge common myths and misconceptions. The course highlights the role organisations and individuals can play in reducing stigma, encouraging open conversations, and supporting those affected.

    This short course introduces BS 30480, the UK’s first workplace standard for suicide and the workplace, intervention, prevention and support for people affected by suicide. It does not cover the requirements of the standard itself. Instead, it will help you understand why the standard was developed, who it is for, and how it can help organizations create safer, more compassionate workplaces.
