What is the Directive?
Directive 2014/32/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to the making available on the market of Measuring Instruments came into force from 20 April 2016 and replaces Directive 2004/22/EC.
This Directive implements the text of EU Decision No 768/2008/EC and makes reference to Regulation (EC) No 765/2008 on accreditation and market surveillance.
The Directive has been implemented in the UK as Statutory Instrument 2016 No, 1153 – Weights & Measure, The Measuring Instruments Regulation 2016 .
All instruments placed on the market after 20 April 2016 have to comply with the requirements in the Directive & Regulations listed above.
In order to display the CE marking under this Directive, you must prove the products are durable, reliable, suitable for intended use and sensitive to the required measurement with repeatable results.
