On 26 March 2015, BSI hosted an event to launch BS 8583:2015 Biodiversity — Guidance for businesses on managing the risks and opportunities. Click here to find out more.

Businesses have become increasingly aware that there may be biodiversity issues relevant to their environmental impact. Until now, there has been no guidance available to assist them in incorporating biodiversity considerations into their day-to-day management systems in a way that enables them to protect and enhance biodiversity through their regular operations.

Join us on Thursday 26 March and find out how BS 8583:2015 can help your business manage its impact on biodiversity by assessing the risks and opportunities.

In addition you will:

  • Learn about the scope of BS 8583 and how it can help you
  • Gain an understanding of what biodiversity is, and why its consideration is relevant to many businesses
  • Receive guidance on meeting the international, national and local targets that have been set for biodiversity protection and enhancement
  • Discover three general methods of biodiversity management: management of premises and facilities, management of day-to-day business operations, management of the supply chain
  • Learn about a four-step process to enable immediate improvements in biodiversity. In addition, the event will provide you with a unique opportunity to hear from leading biodiversity experts, participate in interactive panel discussions and network with your colleagues, and specialists in biodiversity management, ecologists and members of the BSI committee
