1st April 2026: BSI has announced a new partnership with OTM Apprenticeships (OTMA) to integrate BSI Lean Six Sigma training into the Level 4 Improvement Specialist Apprenticeship, marking a significant step forward in the development of professional apprenticeships in the UK.
The collaboration brings together BSI’s globally recognized expertise in Lean Six Sigma with OTMA’s government-funded apprenticeship programme, creating one of the first initiatives of its kind to combine internationally respected improvement methodology with a higher-level apprenticeship standard.
Through the partnership, apprentices enrolled on OTMA’s The Level 4 Improvement Specialist Apprenticeship will gain access to BSI Lean Six Sigma training alongside the core leadership and improvement curriculum. The integration is designed to strengthen apprentices’ ability to apply structured improvement techniques, while developing strategic leadership capabilities within their organizations.
The Level 4 Improvement Specialist Apprenticeship is designed for experienced professionals responsible for leading change, improving performance and delivering measurable organizational results.
By embedding BSI Lean Six Sigma training within the apprenticeship framework, the programme aims to enhance the credibility, depth and practical impact of professional development delivered through the apprenticeship route.
Richard Ash, Director at OTM Apprenticeships, said: “This partnership reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, structured development that aligns with recognised standards. I am excited to be working with BSI and having the opportunity to incorporate BSI Lean Six Sigma training into our Improvement Leader programme. By working together, we are strengthening the depth and relevance of what apprentices gain, both in terms of knowledge and workplace application.”
Chris Wright, EMEA Training Director, said: “Apprenticeships are increasingly recognized as a strategic way for organizations to develop capability at every level of the workforce, offering employees a fantastic opportunity at the same time. Higher-level programmes such as the Improvement Specialist Apprenticeship help employers strengthen leadership, build internal expertise and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
“By integrating BSI’s Lean Six Sigma training into the programme, apprentices will gain practical tools and have access to internationally recognised methodologies that support measurable results and sustainable change. BSI’s partnership with OTM Apprenticeships reflects a shared ambition to raise the bar for professional apprenticeships and provide employers with a structured pathway to develop senior talent while maintaining operational performance.”
