Morgan Sindall Construction strengthens quality leadership with BSI

13 August 2025 – Morgan Sindall Construction a business that provides construction services across the UK in areas such as education, healthcare, blue light, defence, residential and leisure, has been certified by BSI to the globally recognized quality management systems standard BS 99001.

The scheme is tailored specifically for the built environment, providing a structured framework to help organizations to embed quality at the heart of project execution, and meet the evolving demands and complex challenges facing the sector today.

The standard, Quality management systems for the built environment (BS 99001) builds upon the internationally recognized ISO Quality Management Systems (9001) standard, adding sector-specific requirements for the built environment. To achieve certification to BS 99001, companies must demonstrate a clear focus on quality risk management, leadership accountability, competency and change management across all phases of its work, from design and procurement through to construction and handover.

BS 99001 is designed to enable organizations to foster a culture of quality at the heart of their operations, supporting regulatory compliance, reducing lifecycle costs, and enhancing reputation. It requires businesses to integrate quality management into their project-based work, focusing on design quality, temporary works, and sustainability throughout the project lifecycle. It emphasizes the importance of competence management, meticulous planning, and documented information. The standard also requires businesses to consider social, economic, and sustainability factors, including progress towards net zero emissions.

Matt Page, Senior Vice President, Assurance Services EMEA at BSI, said: Having good quality management processes in place is imperative if we are to build resilient, high-performing infrastructure that meets both current and future needs.

“Morgan Sindall Construction’s achievement of BS 99001 certification underscores its leadership in adopting best practice and driving quality across the built environment. This is a significant milestone, reflecting a proactive commitment to delivering projects that are of high quality and aligned with the evolving expectations of clients, regulators, and communities.”

Steffan Speer, Technical Director for Morgan Sindall Construction said: “We were thrilled to be one of the first organisations to have achieved BS 99001 certification. This recognises the work our teams do to ensure compliance to standards and implementing building safety management processes that provide a ‘golden thread’ of information across all our projects.
