August 11, 2025: A comprehensive, intelligence-led program designed to transform the way organizations approach supply chain risk management by helping them break out of internal siloes to assess vulnerabilities, manage risk, and identify new opportunities has been launched by BSI, the business standards and improvement company.
Built on decades of industry-leading expertise, MESH, [Managing Enterprise Supply Risk Holistically], has been developed in response to today’s volatile global landscape, in which modern supply chains are more intricate and exposed than ever, thanks to increasing supply chain disruption, regulatory shifts, cyber-attacks and other emerging risks.
Research published by BSI earlier this year found that virtually every sector has seen a surge in incidents such as theft, cyber-attacks, and regulatory enforcement, with manufacturing, construction, pharmaceutical, tech, and retail particularly affected. Similarly, 2024 research from McKinsey found that nine in ten supply chain leaders experienced disruptions last year, reflecting that these challenges have become the norm for businesses rather than isolated incidents.
MESH, which unites BSI’s world-class consulting, rigorous auditing, and cutting-edge technology into a single program, addresses this volatile landscape—where regulatory shifts, geopolitical uncertainty, and ESG expectations converge with traditional risks like quality, security, and business continuity.
It aims to help companies to stay ahead of geopolitical and regulatory changes, pinpoint areas of misalignment and exposure, and take proactive steps such as conducting targeted audits, developing risk mitigation plans, and building internal alignment across departments. The objective is to equip them to move beyond siloed risk management, and instead take a holistic, intelligence-led approach that involves:
· Gap analysis to identify internal blind spots, siloed ways of working, and drive collaboration on supply chain risk throughout the organization.
· Supply Chain Risk Mapping —leveraging BSI’s proprietary analytics and sector-specific insights.
· Facilitating cross-functional alignment across procurement, supply chain, operations, compliance, sustainability, IT, and other teams
· Continuously monitoring and improving supply chain resilience in response to emerging threats and evolving regulations
Through cross-functional collaboration led by BSI’s expert supply chain risk management consultants and auditors, MESH brings together the full spectrum of BSI’s knowledge, from compliance and operations to cybersecurity and sustainability, into a single, cohesive program. The aim is to provide organizations with greater supply chain visibility, empowering them to make smarter, risk-based decisions.
It is relevant to businesses of all sizes and sectors, but particularly those with complex, multi-tiered or fast-growing supply chains—such as manufacturers relying on global suppliers, pharmaceutical firms navigating strict regulatory landscapes, or FMCG and retail businesses managing diverse sourcing and logistical challenges worldwide.
Tony Pelli, Global Practice Director, Security & Resilience, BSI, said: “In today’s complex, unpredictable global landscape, supply chains are more intricate and exposed than ever, thanks to disruption, regulatory shifts, cyber-attacks and emerging risks. In the face of this heightened risk and with mounting scrutiny, businesses cannot afford to be reactive or fragmented in their approach.
“All companies, regardless of size or sector, need true end-to-end visibility to make smarter, risk-based decisions that set them apart in a crowded market. BSI’s MESH program is led by seasoned experts, who bring the full range of BSI’s knowledge to empower businesses to not just weather uncertainty, but convert risk into opportunity and sustainable advantage.”
