The Challenge
Maintaining a competitive edge in the face of fierce competition
Exporting to markets around the world, Ei Electronics must be able to demonstrate its commitment to best practices in manufacturing and to offering quality products that have been rigorously tested.
Following a management buy-out in 1988, the newly launched independent company needed to demonstrate its credibility to potential clients. It had two distinct drivers: firstly, to establish a quality mark to differentiate it from its competitors' alarms; and, secondly, to demonstrate excellence in design and manufacturing processes. The company's goal is to produce the most reliable early warning devices of their kind.
The Solution
Underpinning drive for quality, safety and reliability with BSI certification
Over its 40-plus-year history, Ei Electronics has achieved and maintained certification by BSI to a range of recognized management system standards, as well as several BSI Kitemarks for its products.
An early decision to secure certification has helped to leap ahead of rivals. Independent verification gives credibility to Ei Electronics products, conceptualised and realized by a team of dedicated professional. Beginning with Quality Management Systems - ISO 9001 (then BS 5750), Ei Electronics has gone on to achieve Environmental Management Systems and Occupational Health and Safety certification. It also holds BSI Kitemark certifications for smoke alarms (BS EN 14604), carbon monoxide alarms (BS EN 50291-1) and heat alarms (BS 5446-2).
