    The People

A family building and infrastructure company with a focus on the future

Early adoption of Building Information Modelling (BIM) training and certification has fostered an environment of curiosity and collaboration at SRM.

Since 1869, SRM has been dedicated to technical excellence in construction. In its pioneering approach to digital construction, BIM, information management, technology and data are driving decision making, project delivery and efficiency.

    The Challenge

Optimizing the potential of digital to raise standards within SRM and across the wider construction industry

With a greater focus on costs, sustainability and efficiency in both public and private sector construction projects, transparency, collaboration and clear communication have never been so important.

As a tier-one construction company, SRM recognizes its role in ensuring all its construction projects are delivered to the highest quality standards. It also recognizes the opportunity presented by digital construction approaches in achieving this goal. While SRM already had established in-house processes and procedures to ensure quality, it knew that alignment with best practice within wider industry presented significant opportunities to improve costs, sustainability and efficiency throughout its supply chain.

    The Solution

Taking an ongoing partnership approach to employee training and maintaining recognized BIM certification

SRM works with BSI to offer BIM training and certification to employees. All of SRM's Digital Construction team have either already achieved or are working towards certification in all BIM modules.

Initially holding PAS certification, SRM was an early adopter of the transition to ISO 19650 BIM certification through BSI. It has now maintained BIM Delivery of Assets certification (ISO 19650 part 2) for six years and has gone on to embed BIM training as a central learning and development approach for all employees within its Digital Construction function. It ensures everyone is equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding to collaborate effectively and deliver projects to a consistently high standard.

    The Benefits

The benefits of BIM certification and training for SRM are numerous and far reaching. They include:
