Energy management is essential for reducing energy cost and increasing uptime. In a global industry where competition is fierce, companies and suppliers need to build the infrastructure to know how, when, and where all forms of energy are used in their facilities in order to optimize energy costs, by reducing exposure to fluctuating energy prices and tracking energy costs per unit of production.
ISO 50001 is a new international standard that provides a framework to help manage the energy supply and consumption in organizations. It is the framework that a number of government agencies currently use as a basis for their energy initiatives such as the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) Superior Energy Performance (SEP), Natural Resources Canada, and Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
The ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard applies to all aspects of energy use and enables energy and regulatory professionals to help their organization and suppliers take a systematic approach to achieving continual improvement of energy performance. Organizations can continue to manage all of their environmental impacts while at the same time evaluate, measure, and reduce energy use. Your result: Real-time actionable information that can deliver cost savings internally and throughout your supply chain.
Participants will develop an understanding of:
• The main requirements of ISO 50001 Energy Management
• Why adding ISO 50001 questions to your supplier score cards could
improve the competitiveness of your supply chain.
• The business benefits that can be realized from a more systematic focus
on environmental management, and a more methodical focus on energy
management
