The Executive Order – Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity has been the hottest topic in the security space since it was issued in February 2013 by President Obama. Since the final draft has been released, there has been controversy regarding the impact on the country and the private sector. While called "voluntary" there are concerns that legislation is looming and that the framework will not meet privacy concerns of the EU.
Our expert panel will break down the most recently released National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Framework and discuss how NIST policy will affect the security of critical infrastructure and comparative standards. We will also discuss what impact it will have on the private sector and those that serve as the supply-chain to critical infrastructure.
Is this the start of legislation soon to come? How will it harmonize with current international efforts? What is the best approach to evaluating your organization against the controls?
Participants will develop an understanding of:
- Cybersecurity framework overview
- The new frameworks's high-level structure
- Key improvements and changes
- The requirements of the framework
- Discuss how the NIST Framework harmonizes with EU efforts
- Best practices for evaluating your organization against the framework and addressing gaps
