NYCDOB released the final Site Safety Training (SST) card requirements to comply with the Local Law 196 its Applicability of Training Requirement for Permit holders are required to attest to DOB that workers are trained.
If you have previously completed a Department-approved training course, you may already have earned credit for some of your SST required hours. Please refer to the DOB-approved Site Safety Training (SST) Course Equivalent document to learn more.

8-Hour Fall Prevention Site Safety Training Course
This awareness level 8-hr Site Safety Training, is required by NYC LL196 and is a prerequisite for some construction, demolition workers and supervisors at certain construction sites within 5 boroughs of NYC to obtain a Site Safety Training card.. Trainees will become generally familiar with terms associated with fall hazards and controls in the construction industry as they pertain to construction in New York City; will be able to recognize and avoid fall hazards and prevent fall-related incidents from occurring or causing harm; learn of roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of various individuals on a construction site. Course curriculum also includes a review of regulatory safety requirements associated with falls and decision-making when working at heights.
2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness Site Safety Training
This awareness level 2-hr Site Safety Training, is required by NYC LL196 and is a prerequisite for some construction, demolition workers and supervisors at certain construction sites within 5 boroughs of NYC to obtain a Site Safety Training card. Upon completing the course trainees will become generally familiar with adverse effects of drug and alcohol in the workplace, be able to recognize problems associated with substance dependency, learn strategies to help them avoid working while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Trainees will have tools to become less susceptible and better at recognizing, avoiding and preventing (RAP) adverse consequences of drug and/or alcohol use and abuse. Trainees will be able to recognize and understand issues of chemical dependence that may adversely affect the lives of others.
OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety & Health Course
The OSHA 30 Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training course is a comprehensive safety program designed for anyone involved in the construction industry (workers and supervisors). This course places special emphasis on hazard identification, control and prevention. Course includes several topics valuable to construction related work, such as Fall Protection, Excavations, Scaffolding, OSHA Inspection Procedures and more. Upon successful completion, students will receive Course Completion Cards from OSHA for the 30 Hour Construction Industry.
4 Hour Site Safety Training Electives Course Bundle
This General and Specialized Electives training is required for both Workers and Supervisors to complete the requisite number of hours to obtain a Site Safety Training card under Local Law 196.
