As part of the systematic process to reduce errors by regulatory bodies, medical device companies in the US and EU have been introduced to the disciplines of Human Factors and Usability Engineering (HF/UE). HF/UE has been applied in the automotive, aerospace, and telecommunications industries for more than 60 years, but has only recently been applied in the medical industry.
