In May 2006 the Coles Quality Team announced their decision to move to independent third-party audits for suppliers of "Housebrand" food products, following a rigorous process of benchmarking and gap analysis with a cross section of current suppliers. 

What Standard do I need certification to? 

Three different standards have been selected in order to cover the range of supplier types in the Grocery Food and Fresh Food areas: 

• Freshcare

• SQF

• The BRC Global Standard for Food 

 Some standards are not suitable for all types of supplier. For example BRC is not applicable to on-farm activities and Freshcare is not applicable for Distributors.
