Sierra Nevada Corp Transfers AS 9100D cert to BSI

The global leader in aerospace partners has entrusted the leading global certifications body to help maintain this essential certification.

HERNDON, Va., Dec. 9, 2019 – BSI, the business improvement company and one of the foremost global certification bodies, has announced Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), a global aerospace and national security leader owned by Eren and Fatih Ozmen, as a new client.

SNC has long held an unflinching commitment to its clients, a customer-focused approach to business, and an entrepreneurial spirit rooted in the fact that it has remained a privately-owned corporation. This has enabled the company to uniquely position itself in the aerospace industry for more than 50 years.

The transfer of the registrar of their AS9100D certification to BSI is just the initial engagement in what both companies hope to be a long partnership. “Our goal is to help SNC on their journey to organizational resilience through maximizing their efficiencies and building a true business management system,” commented Tim Wren, BSI’s regional commercial director for the Americas.

The AS9100-series is the international, industry-recognized set of standards for quality assurance and risk management for organizations involved with the design, development, production, installation, and servicing in the aviation, space, and defense sector. This certification is required for many suppliers in the aerospace sector as a qualification to provide products and services to the OEMs.

SNC chose to transfer the registrar status to BSI because of BSI’s reputation for rigorous audits, world-class auditors, and industry reputation which started with its founding as the world’s first standards body nearly 120 years ago. This initial transfer will allow BSI to assist SNC in fully integrating their business management systems and optimize efficiencies.

“SNC is excited to partner with BSI as our AS9100D registrar to help evolve our management systems while efficiently scaling for continued growth,” said Brian Strobel, SNC’s vice president of quality assurance. “As the company moves forward as a new breed of prime integrator, our innovation and agility will continue as we seek better, more cost effective and faster solutions for our customers. We believe BSI offers the best opportunity to reach best-in-class status and help in SNC’s pursuit of operational excellence.”

“We’re honored to be SNC’s new registrar for AS9100D and look forward to growing our partnership in the months and years ahead,” said Carlos Pitanga, BSI’s chief operating officer in the Americas. “BSI’s global reach and uniquely local service approach is ideally suited to service the needs of the world’s leading companies and help them realize previously unobtainable levels of quality management."
