Lessons Learned - CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Information Security Breach

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) announced it had been subjected to a sophisticated information security cyberattack, exposing information on approximately 1.1 million current and former CareFirst members. According to an outside cybersecurity firm’s investigation, the breach occurred in June 2014 and gave hackers access to user names, dates of birth, email addresses and subscriber identification numbers.
