Net zero is a systemic challenge which requires a systemic solution – it’s an opportunity for everyone.

By working together to align our approach and understanding of net zero, we can counter the biggest challenge facing our planet. One obstacle to action is a confusing and fragmented governance landscape.

The ISO Net Zero Guidelines aim to address this, by offering a common reference point and interpretation guide for those who create net zero governance and those operating within it.

The Guidelines were facilitated by Our 2050 World, a collaboration of international organizations and standards bodies to drive greater alignment and accelerate action to achieve net zero.

The Net Zero Guidelines provide guidance and recommendations for net zero strategy:

  • Recommendations on governance, target setting, transparent communication, credible claims, and consistent reporting
  • Achieving Net zero - guiding principles
  • Signposts to relevant prominent initiatives and standards that provide further information, methodology and verification
  • Guidance on how to accelerate action to achieve global net zero

What do the Net Zero Guidelines say?​

 

 

Our 2050 World is a global collaboration between the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the UN Race to Zero and the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub to accelerate the transition to net zero through standards. It is convened by BSI.
