European standards
- CEN - Comité Européen de Normalisation (European Committee for Standardization)
CEN develops European standards and promotes voluntary technical harmonization in Europe in conjunction with worldwide bodies and its partners in Europe. BSI is a leading member of CEN in the development of European standards. An example of a standard developed by CEN and adopted by BSI is BS EN 71 Toy safety.
International standards
- ISO - The International Organization for Standardization
ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from 140 countries including BSI. It promotes the development of standardization to aid the international exchange of goods and services. ISO's work results in international agreements, which are published as international standards. An example is ISO 9000 – the family of standards for quality management. It can also be expressed as BS EN ISO 9000. - IEC - The International Electrotechnical Commission
IEC is the global organization that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.
