BSI Kitemark™ certification for hygienic hand sanitizer

BSI Kitemark certification for hygienic hand sanitizer aims to address the concerns of those buying and using hygienic hand sanitizers whether for use in a domestic or in commercial applications. It is applicable for both bactericidal and viricidal products.

This independent certification programme means that products that meet the appropriate standards and achieve BSI Kitemark certification can be clearly identified with the BSI Mark of Trust.

For manufacturers of hygienic hand wash it enables them to differentiate their products with Kitemark certification.

And for consumers or those buying the product it enables them to easily identify a product they can trust.

This certification programme is for chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used for hygienic hand rub, hygienic hand wash, surface disinfectants and textile disinfectants by using BS EN 14885 where microbicidal activity is claimed plus the test methods: BS EN 13727, BS EN 1500, BS EN 1499 , BS EN 12791, BS EN 13697, BS EN 16615, BS EN 14561 and BS EN 16616.

Initially this is a three-step process.

1. This starts with an initial product evaluation, known as initial type testing. This is where the product is tested against all requirements of the standard to verify that it meets the requirements including physical, chemical and performance testing.
2. We also assess your Quality Management System (QMS) such as ISO 9001 to ensure the product is manufactured consistently.
3. If both the product and the quality management system comply with the requirements of the standards we will issue your BSI Kitemark certificate which will be listed in the public domain on our VerifEye directory where it can be checked by your customers or stakeholders to validate your certification claims.

Then, to ensure product quality and performance over time, on an ongoing basis we:

• Audit your Quality Management System (QMS) twice per year, either on-site or remotely
• Audit test the product twice per year in the BSI appointed accredited laboratories
