The webinar provides an overview of the revised standard and encourages participants to formally comment on the draft. Dave Adamson is a Lead Standards Development Manager at the British Standards Institution. He is responsible for standardisation activities in resilience, continuity, crisis management and risk management.

Rob MacFarlane is Deputy Director in the Cabinet Office Civil Contingencies Secretariat, where he has oversight of UK Resilience Doctrine, Standards, Training, Exercising and Assurance.

Before joining the Civil Service in 2006 Rob established and led a geo-spatial analysis consultancy for ten years, running projects from post-conflict reconstruction in Mozambique to renewable energy planning in the Western Isles of Scotland. Rob is one of the authors of the Joint Emergency Services Doctrine and has led the development and subsequent revision of British Standards on Crisis Management and Organisational Resilience.

Rob received an OBE for public service in the 2021 New Years Honours List, has a PhD in geo-spatial analysis from the University of Aberdeen and a Doctorate in Business Administration on crisis decision making from the University of Durham.

Rick is a recognised leader and expert in organisational resilience, strategic risks, operational readiness and crisis/exceptional situation management, with over 30 years’ experience in this specialist field. He is also a Partner at Deloitte and founded their Reputation, Crisis and Resilience practice.

During his career, he has supported the hosts and organisers of some of the world’s greatest sporting events, worked across government to manage issues of national significance such as the UK’s exit from the EU and has helped many organisations improve resilience of supply. He has also been an interim Group Head of Business Continuity at two global banks.

He has worked with leading academic institutions and bodies to develop good practice and standards in resilience, including Cranfield University, King’s College London, the National Preparedness Commission and the British Standards Institution where he is Chair of the Technical Committee for Continuity and Resilience.

He provides crisis leadership training to 150+ executives worldwide on an annual basis, has been invited to lecture at several universities and awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Business Continuity Institute.

Julia is the CEO of Airmic, the UK association of insurance and risk managers.

She has a background in international insurance, enterprise risk management and compliance, with four decades of experience in a global insurance company and a global law firm.

She is a former chair of FERMA, the European association for risk management professionals and a Board and Executive member of IFRIMA, the International Federation of Risk and Insurance Management Associations.

Julia is a regular contributor to the development of standards for the International Organization for Standardization and the British Standards Institution.

She is a Crown Representative for the UK Government Cabinet Office, focusing on risk and insurance.
