Agenda

Neil joined BSI in May 2020 as the Director for Standards Development. Neil has a background in strategy consultancy and Investment Banking where he was a Global Chief Operating Officer, with particular expertise in transformation, change, strategy, digital, risk and operations.

In his last role as Director of Operations and Transformation at Cambridge Assessment International Education he helped modernise the business creating more robust processes, technology and controls. Neil has worked all over the world including 12 years in Australia and Asia.

Dick Hortensius has over 36 years of experience in the development of standards and was a participant since the development of the first edition of ISO 14001 in 1996.

He provides training courses for NEN in management systems standards and is (co)author of a range of practical guides for the implementation of standards such ISO 14001, 9001 and ISO 19011.

Martin Baxter leads on IEMA's policy and external engagement activity and is a member of the IEMA Board.

He works in the UK, and internationally, to support the transition to a low carbon, resource efficient, and sustainable economy. Martin is a regular media spokesperson on a range of business sustainability topic areas. He has extensive experience of networking and communicating at all levels, including with senior parliamentarians, Government officials, business leaders, and academia.

Martin has national and international experience in developing and negotiating global and European standards and developing capacity for effective and widespread implementation. He is chair of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) sub-committee on environmental management systems and head of the UK delegation.

Over the last 25 years Fred Wenke has gained experience working worldwide as a manager and auditor in the third-party certification industry. Fred is a Diploma Chemical Engineer (BSc equivalent), specialising in waste water treatment/water chemistry, and a Biological Technical Assistant with main subjects in ecology and pollution control.

He contributed to the ISO 14001:2015 revision as a German delegate and is currently the convenor of the ISO ad hoc group on the future challenges for a next revision of the standard.

An experienced auditor and implementer of ISO 14001, Anya Ledwith has 25 years of leadership in the field of carbon and environmental management. Through her award-winning consultancy Eshcon, she helps clients actively embed the environment into core business activities and so gives them the results that they are looking for: real improvements & commercial benefits. She is Vice-Chair of the BSI Committee on EMS standards, is a member of the ISO 14001 User Survey task group and has recently written a BSI white paper on ISO 14005 EMS phased implementation.

Dr. Lisa Greenwood has over 25 years of experience in environmental management in industry and academia, and 22 years in environmental standards development. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy from the State University of New York - College of Environmental Science and Forestry, in association with Syracuse University. Greenwood is the Vice Chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to ISO TC 207, and was the lead delegate from the U.S. in the 2015 revision of ISO 14001. She chairs the User Survey Task Group for the development and dissemination of the 2021 ISO 14001 Continual Improvement Survey.

Nele Zgavc is the committee manager of the international subcommittee for environmental management systems ISO/TC 207/SC 1, this technical committee manages the development of ISO 14001. Since 2015, she has been working in standards development for the British Standards Institution. Over the years her standards portfolio has been focused on healthcare, risk management and 2019 environmental management.
