This qualification develops the necessary knowledge and skills to assess the conformance and implementation of an Artificial Intelligence Management System agnostically; with its family of standards; conforming to ISO/IEC 42001 and gain the understanding of the concepts which underpin ISO/IEC 22989:2023 as a normative reference in ISO/IEC 42001:2023, whilst building a risk management system based on ISO/IEC 23894:2023.
As a risk-based standard ISO/IEC 42001:2023 provides the option of 38 risk controls that you may determine necessary for manging your AI risks. You will be provided with an oversight into how you can implement these controls if they are necessary for the effective implementation of your AIMS and be provided with the understanding and tools to conduct an AI System Impact Assessment, either in isolation or as part of an ISO/IEC 42001:12023 AI management system.

On successful completion of the qualification, you’ll receive a BSI Mark of Trust that can be shared within your organisation and across your network of contacts.
In addition, you will be awarded an internationally recognized BSI training course certificate for each of the completed courses and exams.
The qualification consists of the following training courses:
ISO/IEC 22989:2023 Understanding on-demand eLearning (3-4hrs)
This course will provide you with an understanding of the main concepts of AI and AI systems to complement your knowledge of management system standards.
ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Requirements on-demand eLearning (3-4hrs)
Identify the structure and requirements of an effective AIMS and what this means for you. Gain a thorough understanding of the history and development of ISO 42001:2023, key terms, definitions and the ISO harmonized structure. You’ll learn to interpret and apply the key concepts and principles of the standard to existing processes within your organization.
ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Controls Implementation on-demand eLearning (3-4hrs)
With the growth in the use of AI systems, the need to demonstrate how organizations use these technologies responsibly, ISO/IEC 42001:2023 is the world’s first AI management system. By implementing and maintaining suitable controls, organizations are able to demonstrate this responsible use in an effective manner, taking into consideration the role they play in the AI system life cycle.
ISO/IEC 23984:2023 Guidance on Risk Management on-demand eLearning (1.5hours)
The aim of this course is to educate participants of the organizational and regulatory importance risk management for AI Enterprises and how to build a such a system based on ISO/IEC 23894:2023. This standard will most likely become harmonized against the AI Act post publication.
Understanding and Implementing AI System Impact Assessments on-demand eLearning (3-4hrs)
This course will provide you with the understanding and tools to conduct an AI system impact assessment, either in isolation or as part of an ISO/IEC 42001:12023 AI management system.
There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification. It will help if you have experience of conducting internal audits or implementation.
The qualification will only be awarded if all components are successfully completed within 3 years.
The next step would be to complete the ISO/IEC 42001 Internal Auditor or Implementer course.
