Designated Auditing Agency BSI is designated by the Director General of Health to function as an Auditing Agency according to section 32 and 33 of the Health and Disability Services Safety Act 2001 (the Act) for all services under the Act.

The standards audited under the Act include:

  • Health and Disability Services (Core) Standard (NZS 8134.1:2008)
  • Health and Disability Services (Restraint Minimisation and Safe Practice) Standard (NZS 8134.2:2008)
  • Health and Disability Services (Infection Prevention and Control) Standard (NZS 8134.3:2008)

Designation covers the following types of services:

  • Rest Home Care
  • Hospital Care including: 
    • Geriatric services
    • Medical services
    • Surgical services
    • Maternity services
    • Mental health services
    • Children’s health services
  • Residential Disability Care including services for people with:
    • Intellectual disabilities
    • Physical disabilities
    • Psychiatric support needs
    • Sensory disabilities
