On 15 August 1990, in recognition of ISO/IEC 17025, Malaysia established the ‘Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia’ or SAMM to accredit laboratories. Accreditation of these laboratories would be by the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM).
As testing and calibration data from accredited laboratories are internationally recognised and is vital in securing acceptance of the test results by the implementing countries, it is imperative that exporters take this into serious consideration. Suppliers, especially those who are export-oriented, would want to demonstrate that their products have been tested and/or calibrated by accredited laboratories that conform to recognised standards.

Individuals, managers and supervisors who have responsibility for their organisations internal test laboratory or internal calibration laboratory, as well as those in organizations seeking registration or transition to ISO 9001:2008 or ISO/TS 16949:2009, would benefit from this course.
It is equally beneficial for managers, executives and engineers who are the users of test results and/or calibration data received from external testing or calibration laboratories.
