On 15 August 1990, in recognition of ISO/IEC 17025, Malaysia established the ‘Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia’ or SAMM to accredit laboratories. Accreditation of these laboratories would be by the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM).

As testing and calibration data from accredited laboratories are internationally recognised and is vital in securing acceptance of the test results by the implementing countries, it is imperative that exporters take this into serious consideration. Suppliers, especially those who are export-oriented, would want to demonstrate that their products have been tested and/or calibrated by accredited laboratories that conform to recognised standards.

How will I benefit?

Upon completion of the training, delegates will be able to:

implement a management system that complies to ISO/IEC 17025 in any type of laboratory setting;
gain a working knowledge of laboratory competence and organization;
understand the type of documentation and procedures that are required to meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025

- understanding on the purpose, principles and practical application of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
- the importance of laboratory management system in testing and/or calibration laboratories
- guidelines on the steps of assessment and accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025.

Individuals, managers and supervisors who have responsibility for their organisations internal test laboratory or internal calibration laboratory, as well as those in organizations seeking registration or transition to ISO 9001:2008 or ISO/TS 16949:2009, would benefit from this course.
