Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange became the first financial market in the region to achieve ISO 27001 Certification for Information Security

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange has achieved ISO 27001 certification, and become the first financial market to define and certify based on auditable international standard for information security management system ( ISMS ), covering its Trading, Clearing, Settlement, Registry and Depository services.

ADX made it a tremendous feat, as it is one of the few organizations who choose to certify its core business services and information assets, to make it a practically sensible scope for its investors and other stakeholders.

In addition to improvement in their staff morale and performance, the certification will assure and generate high level of confidence to ADX stakeholders which includes the government, brokerage firms, registrars, custodians, investors, listed companies etc. The certification was issued after a thorough auditing and validation by British Standards Institute, which gives maximum assurance to the stakeholders that their information is protected by the Exchange in the best comprehensive manner. As part of the certification process, there will be regular follow up audits to ensure the operational effectiveness of the system.

This achievement reflects the ambition and vision of the market in alignment with Abu Dhabi government’s  Vision 2030, which aims to compete on global level and to lead the financial markets of the region.
 
In this context, Mr. Rashed Al Baloushi, Deputy Chief Executive and Director Of Operations said that achieving a prestigious certification of British Standards Institution(BSI) is a confirmation of both interest and keenness of ADX on the development of financial system, internal processes and technical competencies, in order to protect clients with the exchange and realize their aspirations to save their data and information.
According to Al Baloushi, the exchange is keen to play the role in Abu Dhabi to be a pioneer in the use of information & communication technology, by providing more e-services with efficient management of information security risks.

Since 2008, ADX has started actively to pursue in improving the information security maturity level and enhance the information security awareness among the staff. This was clearly demonstrated in the reports of the international audit firm, which reflected the substantial progress achieved by the exchange at the level of implementing the requirements of ISO 27001 Standard.
Mr. Al Baloushi expressed great pride and happiness that ADX achieved ISO 27001 certification, and appreciated the commendable efforts  of  ADX employees, who put all their efforts and expertise with dedication and sincerity to achieve the requirements for the standard in such a challenging period of time.
