New Head of UK Notified Body, 0086

BSI would like to inform you that after many years’ service as Head of Notified Body 0086, John Howlett, will be leaving BSI from January 2015. We wish John the very best for the future and thank him for helping to shape BSI into the world class Notified Body we see in 2015.

We are pleased to announce that Dr Suzanne (Suzie) Halliday has accepted the position as the UK Head of Notified Body 0086.  Suzie has many years’ experience working in medical devices for BSI, as a Technical Specialist, QMS Assessor, Team Leader and Head of Medical Device Operations and Training.  In her time at BSI many staff have benefited greatly from her wise counsel, advice and leadership, and our medical device business and customers will benefit from her guidance and support in her new role.

Suzie’s experience and the many years working with John will allow for a smooth handover and will ensure a consistent service from BSI is provided to you over the coming months.

Suzanne Halliday

BSc and MSc Biomechanics, University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. D.Phil. Orthopaedic Engineering, University of Oxford, UK.

Suzie has more than ten years of experience in research and development including clinical trials of joint reconstruction and paediatric orthopaedic devices. Her experience comes from seven hospitals and three universities in five different countries.

Most recently this knowledge has been applied to the regulatory requirements of the European Union, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Japan, USA, Taiwan and other countries to facilitate manufacturers bringing medical devices to market.

This is a pivotal position for BSI, both from an operational perspective and in shaping and interpreting compliant regulatory oversight.  Please join us in congratulating Suzie on her new position, and we look forward to working with you in the future.
