Governments are setting targets for organizations to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, while consumers increasingly prioritize sustainability, seeking carbon-neutral products.
YouGov data (2023) shows 75% of consumers are altering their buying habits with the environment in mind, and two-thirds view brands more favourably when they reduce their carbon footprints. This highlights the importance of ensuring your products are environmentally friendly.
To help consumers trust that a product or service is genuinely carbon neutral, BSI offers the Kitemark for Carbon Neutral Products and Services. This certification reassures consumers that a product or service has been independently assessed against international standards and meets stringent criteria.
The certification is based on two key standards, listed below, as well as a Carbon Footprint Management Plan, enabling ongoing carbon reduction.
- ISO 14067:2018: Uses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to quantify carbon footprint.
- BS ISO 14068 - 1:2023: Guides on achieving net zero emissions through management practices.
