While the challenge of sustainable development is global, the strategies for achieving it at community level are local, to a large extent, and can therefore differ in context and content from country to country and region to region. Community strategies need to reflect the context, preconditions, priorities and needs, particularly in the social environment, e.g. social equity, cultural identity and traditions, heritage, human health, safety and comfort, and social infrastructure.

In order to become more sustainable, communities also face the challenge of respecting planetary boundaries and taking into account the limitations these boundaries impose.

You will learn how to develop an implementation plan, establish the necessary documentation, monitor your organizations’ management system for sustainable development and achieve continual improvement of a quality step-by-step.

You will gain the knowledge to:
- Recognize a typical framework for implementing ISO 37101:2016 following the PDCA cycle.
- Interpret key concepts and requirements of ISO 37101 from an implementation perspective.
- Identify the benefits specific to an organization in relation to implementing an effective SDMS.
Have the skills to:
- Conduct a base line review of an organization’s current position with regards to ISO 37101.
- Implement key concepts of ISO 37101.
- Implement key requirements of ISO 37101:2016.
All responsible for planning, implementing, maintaining, supervising / auditing the organizations’ management system for sustainable development and ISO 37101:2016.
Prerequisite: You should have an understanding of the requirements of ISO 37101:2016.

There is no formal delegate assessment for this course. On completion, you’ll be awarded an internationally respected BSI Training Academy certificate.
