Theuns Kotze

Theuns is currently the Regional Managing Director for BSI – Management Systems in Middle East and Africa. He holds a B.Com. Degree from the University of Pretoria. Previously he held the position of Sales and Marketing Director for BSI- Management Systems in Europe, based in London. Prior to that he has held postions as the Managing Director of Amtri Veritas - UK and he was an Executive Director of Nosa International responsible for Auditing and Certification globally. During 2002 he developed an Aids management standard now known as AMS 16001. The AMS 16001 is now the South African Standard for Aids management and could become the ISO standard for aids management in future. He has conducted more than 2,000 assessments on various standards in the last 20 years.


Ozlem Unsal

General Manager- System Certification

Ozlem Unsal

Özlem Ünsal is currently the General Manager- System Certification for BSI Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Istanbul Technical University in Environmental Engineering. In her early career Ozlem worked at BEKO, one of the leading international households companies, acting in different managerial roles from utilities to production for almost 7 years where she was also leading ISO 14001 management systems in all locations. In 2004, she decided to move her career to the certification sector joining British Standards Institution BSI. She has established management systems in BSI Turkey and conducted numerous audits and trainings against different standards before she was appointed as the General Manager of BSI Turkey. Throughout her time with BSI she has executed resilient and consistent business growth. She was promoted to META management team in January 2018.


Paul Keyworth

Finance Director

Paul Keyworth

Paul is a graduate of Leeds University and qualified as an ACMA in 1992. He joined BSI in 2008 working as Interim Financial Controller for BSI in Milton Keynes UK before moving to the BSI MEA offices in Dubai in 2009 as Finance Director and heading up the Compliance & Risk team. Paul now is the Finance Director for BSI Middle East and Africa and has a breadth of financial and general management experience from working across a range of industries including banking, FMCG, fashion and government departments in a variety roles up-to and including Finance Director as well working  as a consultant for a Professional Services company.


Omar Rashid

General Manager - Training and Professional Services

Omar Rashid

Omar Rashid holds a Masters in Marketing Communications from Middlesex University. He is currently the General Manager of Training and Professional Services. Omar joined BSI Group in 2008 from the UK and has extensive international and regional experience; he is skilled in various management system specifications and requirements such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001, ISO 22000, ISO 28000, and PAS 99. Throughout his time with BSI he has gained valuable expertise in management systems, standards and the procedures and processes involved with implementing them into organizations.


Yahya El Olabi

General Manager - Abu Dhabi

Yahya El Olabi

Yahya has more than 9 years in the fields of Training, 2nd & 3rd party inspection and management systems standards. Yahya  joined BSI in 2010 and is currently the General Manager in Abu Dhabi. He has previously held various positions within BSI Group including Business Development for assessment, training and entropy. Before joining BSI, Yahya worked for Bureau Vertias in Abu Dhabi, covering the development of the business in training, assessment and inspection. He holds a BA Degree in Business Administration from American University of Lebanon.


Fiona Korte

General Manager - Product Certification

Fiona Korte

Fiona Korte joined BSi in 2009 as a Business Development Manager for Assessment and training. In 2013 she was promoted to Commercial Manager focusing on Assessment and growing the product certification business within the MEA region.  It was then in 2014 she was promoted to General Manager  for Product testing and certification. Fiona is a Marketing Management graduate and has been working and living in the Middle East for over 10 years.

Colin Joined BSI Middle East and Africa Management team in February 2017, taking on the role of General Manager Compliance and Risk – MEA. Colin joins our team after 26 years with BSI UK and brings a wealth of experience on both the operational and compliance sides of the System Certification business.

Maria joined the BSI team in January 2011. She became the Marketing Manager for the MEA region in 2014. Maria holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She has more than 9 years of experience in the marketing field including planning and implementing marketing strategies, direct marketing, effective copywriting, creative collateral design, database  management, events management, brand management, SEO, Google Analytics, developing case studies, social marketing, PR and media relation. Previously Maria she worked in the events management industry. A highly motivated, results orientated, enthusiastic professional with over 12 years’ experience in the Middle East market. 


Dr Richard Freeman

Operations Manager, BSI Healthcare Saudi Arabia

Dr Richard Freeman

Richard joined BSI in 2010 and is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. BSI is one of five Conformance Assessment Bodies supporting the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) implement regulations for all Medical Devices, Active Implantable Devices and In Vitro Diagnostic Devices in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Richard studied Chemistry at Cork University, Ireland. He obtained his doctorate in Organic Chemistry at Oxford University and was a Fellow of Sydney University, Australia. Previously he has held positions in an advanced wound care company in Chester, as head of Research & Development. Prior to this he was part of a biotechnology company in Farnham, UK, developing coatings for medical devices.  


Jacs van Rooy

Country Manager - BSI Group South Africa (Pty) Ltd

Jacs van Rooy

Jacs joined the BSI team in February 2016 and is responsible for the South Africa office by implementing good practise and driving synergies across the Training and Professional Services. Jacs has over 22 years’ experience in the implementation, training and assessment of health, safety, environmental, food hygiene, quality and more recently energy management systems. Jacs worked for 10 years with The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) as a Quality, Food Safety, Laboratory Accreditation, Environmental and Health & Safety Management System Auditor in sectors like food, chemical, agricultural forestry, pharmaceutical and metallurgical.
