27 January 2026: BSI, the business improvement and standards organization, and Asia Carbon Institute (ACI) have announced a training collaboration to strengthen professional capability in carbon crediting programmes and support integrity across global carbon markets.
The collaboration brings together BSI’s expertise in international standards and management systems with ACI’s specialist knowledge in carbon credit issuance, trading and retirement. Together, the two organizations have jointly developed a professional training programme titled Carbon Crediting Programs Training: Mastering Carbon Credit Standards, Integrity, and the Future of Carbon Markets.
As organizations accelerate climate commitments and net zero strategies, carbon markets are playing an increasingly important role in emissions reduction efforts. However, rapid market expansion has introduced increasing complexity, evolving regulatory expectations and heightened scrutiny around carbon credit quality, transparency and governance.
The programme is designed to address these challenges by equipping professionals with a clear understanding of carbon crediting program, international standards and market mechanisms, enabling informed decision-making and credible climate action.
Jointly developed by BSI and ACI, the two-day programme combines complementary expertise, covering the carbon credit lifecycle from project conception to issuance, trading and retirement. It also examines validation and verification processes, digital MRV systems, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, carbon removal technologies and the integration of carbon credits into green finance and ESG reporting frameworks.
Cheong Yuen Poon, Head of Training, Assurance, BSI Apac, stating “this training collaboration brings together globally recognised standards and strong technical expertise to address a critical capability gap in carbon markets and support credible climate action.”
John Lo, Founder of ACI, added “High‑integrity carbon markets don’t scale on rules alone - they scale on capability. Alongside ACI’s work in carbon credit issuance, capacity building is a core pillar of our mission. This collaboration with BSI helps equip professionals with the practical skills and standards-based understanding needed to navigate the full carbon credit lifecycle and make credible climate claims with confidence.”
