Requirements include implementing ISO 22000-based Food Safety Management Systems with sector-specific prerequisite programs, hazard analysis (HACCP), documented processes, trained personnel, and independent certification audits.
Begin by reviewing FSSC 22000 standards, conduct a food safety risk assessment, develop and document procedures, train your team, and work with a certified body like BSI for certification audit and ongoing compliance.
FSSC 22000 Version 7 is the latest version of the FSSC 22000 Scheme, published on 1 May 2026. It incorporates the new ISO 22002-x:2025 series, aligns the Scheme with the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements 2024, strengthens sustainability-related requirements and introduces a more detailed food chain category structure.
Key changes include adoption of the ISO 22002-x:2025 series, a new sub(sub)category classification, changes to several FSSC Additional Requirements, a revised audit duration model, and strengthened requirements around food safety and quality culture, food loss and waste, product design, competence and certification processes.
Version 7 of the FSSC 22000 Scheme was officially released on the 1st May 2026 and there is a 12 month implementation window to allow organizations and CBs to prepare for the new Version. Audits against the FSSC 22000 Scheme V6 are only allowed to be delivered up to 30 April 2027. Upgrade audits against FSSC 22000 Scheme V7 shall be conducted from 1 May 2027 until 30 April 2028.
