We would be delighted if you would like to join us for the launch of the BSI Internet of Things (IoT) Community.

The community is convening digital innovators with traditional industries (with a particular focus on the built environment) to tackle IoT related challenges, drive standardization at speed, increase market confidence and accelerate adoption. It’s backed by Innovate UK and will build on all of the great work done by the Hypercat community.
We have some excellent speakers lined up for the launch event, including from Innovate UK, BSI, BT, Costain, Symantec, several cities and SMEs. Each will talk about a major IoT related challenge, or present about exciting IoT programmes including CityVerve and the NHS Test Beds.

The launch event is highly interactive. There’ll be time to discuss each challenge, influence which areas the community prioritises and make sure your organisation is involved in the opportunities this creates. You’ll also be able to see, try and sign up for the online portal we’ve created to support all of the communities’ discussions and programmes.

9-30 to 10-40. Session 1. Connecting industries at digital speed

Convening digital and physical industries to address IoT challenges create fresh opportunities and increase market confidence and drive standardisation at speed.

Speakers include Scott Steedman, Director of Standards at BSI and Jonny Voon, Innovation Lead, IoT at Innovate UK.

10-40 to 11-10 Coffee

Networking and the opportunity to explore the online community portal.

11-10 to 12-30. Session 2, part 1. Pitch n’ Poll

Short presentations of around 5-6 IoT challenges from a wide range of organisations including Symantec, Costain, Cambridge, Oxford and Reading. The topics covered include security, the built environment and cities.

This session includes Q&A and the chance to comment and vote through the online portal.

12-30 to 13-30. Lunch

Lunch, networking and the opportunity to explore the online community portal.

13-30 to 14-30. Session 2, part 1. Pitch n’ Poll

Round table discussion on each of the challenges presented before lunch – your chance to get directly involved in how we prioritise and address each challenge.

14-30 to 14-45 Coffee

Networking and the opportunity to explore the online community portal.

14-45 to 16-30. Session 3: Where next? Hypercat, IoT and Smart Cities

Presentations, panel discussions and Q&A from BT, the NHS Test Beds, Catapults, SMEs and startups – focused on what happens next for Hypercat, IoT and cities.
