The second session on Day Two of our chase-the-sun OH&S series is all about different ways to implement ISO 45001 to build an effective OH&S management system that meets your organization’s needs to improve your OH&S performance. It will look at the different tools available to help you, the importance of focusing on effectiveness rather than just conformity and compliance and how to determine the best approach for  stronger resultsThis session will introduce ISO 45002,  guidelines for the implementation of ISO 45001, which will publish in 2023.

13:25 How to access the ISO documents

Sally is BSI’s Lead Standards Development Manager for business improvement and occupational health and safety management. She is responsible for working with both national and international experts to develop documents that help organizations of all types to improve the way they operate and to better protect the people who work for them.

Sally engages with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the widest possible views are taken into account when the UK inputs to international standards and frequently holds public meetings to encourage users of the standards to raise issues and propose improvements.

Sally is the manager  of the ISO technical committee responsible for the world’s first international standard on occupational health and safety management, ISO 45001, and is actively involved in the development of ISO 45003 (guidance on psychological health and safety at work) which will also be the first globally agreed standard of its type.

Lionel Sematuro is a General Manager at Trinity Musha Mines Ltd., overseeing business activities and improving overall business functions. With 12 years of professional experience, he has effectively managed business operations in the mining and manufacturing industries.

Before working in Musha, Lionel led Occupational Environmental Safety and Health functions in different organizations in Rwanda and he successfully developed and implemented ISO management systems. He is currently the Convenor of the DCCG-ISO/TC 283, works with government institutions in the field of OHS, and actively participates in different activities at a national and internal level.

He is the founding member of the Rwanda Occupational Health and Safety Association (ROHSA) and is passionate about organizational excellence, continuous improvement, management systems, and high-quality leadership.

Lionel enjoys volunteering and traveling and holds an Engineering degree in Food Industry and Manufacturing from Université Cadi Ayyad in Morocco, a Professional certificate on OHS from ITC-ILO, Italy, and an MBA from the University of the People, United State
