On September 9, 2021, under the guidance of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People’s Republic of China, the Institute of Remanufacturing Industry Technology (Jing-Jin-Ji), Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the Economic Development Zone Management Committee of Hejian City, Hebei Province, the China-Britain Business Council and other units jointly organized “The Promotion and Application of High-efficiency Motors as Sino-British Green Manufacturing Seminar” in the National Remanufacturing Industry Demonstration Base of Hebei Province.
Leaders and experts from the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, the British Embassy in China, the British Standards Institution, and the University of Sheffield attended the conference via video link, and representatives from research institutions, universities, industry associations, and motor enterprises conducted on-site exchanges.
The Institute of Remanufacturing Industry Technology (Jing-Jin-Ji) undertook the project of the “Remanufacturing Motor Development Policy Research”. Zhang Wei, President of the Institute, gave a special invited report on the “Progress of China's Motor Remanufacturing and Remanufacturing International Standards” at the meeting. The PREMCI Office (Promoting Energy Efficient Electric Motors in Chinese Industries) introduced the development and main results of PREMCI. The Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute announced the implementation of new standards for motor energy efficiency. The expert from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom introduced the development and application of rare earth permanent magnet motor technology. Motor Star company in Hebei and other companies shared experience in enhancing the production capacity of high-efficiency motors and promoting them. Chris Brown from the UK-China Business Environment Programme Standards Strand funded by the British Embassy’s Prosperity Fund and Sarah Kelly from the British Standards Institution (BSI) gave an overview of the Standards Programme and introduced the progress of Sino-British cooperation on remanufacturing international standards. Relevant parties involved in the meeting focused on green manufacturing and the development of the high-efficiency motor industry under the framework of the Sino-British modern industry partnership. In-depth exchanges and the direction of cooperation in the next step were further discussed.
Li Yikai, Deputy Director of the Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Song Xiaoming, Deputy Director of the Institute of Energy Resources and Environment of the Center for International Economic and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Deng Xianghui, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Industrial Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production Association, Wang Binglin, Secretary of Hejian Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Wang Gang, Mayor of Hejian Municipal Government, Yang Zhongzhi, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Hejian Economic Development Zone and other leaders attended the meeting.
PREMCI is an international cooperation project jointly implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). It aims to promote the production capacity of high-efficiency motors in China and accelerate the promotion and application of high-efficiency motors. At present, the project has entered the summary and promotion stage. This seminar is one of the series of exchange and promotion activities of the project.
