Recently, there has been a marked increase in malware targeting industrial systems, and this has been made easier due to the increase in connectivity. Attackers can create botnets and perform DDoS and ransomware attacks, as well as targeting the systems themselves.

This paper explores who is accountable for security and safety in industrial IoT devices, and how these complex relationships should be approached to achieve effective security through the life cycle.
