    The GRI Professional Certification Program is a four-course learning path that offers globally applicable and recognised professional development for individuals operating in the sustainability field, with a focus on enhancing knowledge, expertise, and skills required to apply the GRI Standards and improving the quality of sustainability reporting.

    Apart from the various aspects of reporting, the course provides ample opportunities for discussions and interactions using case studies.

    This certification program provides a unique opportunity to gain expertise and global recognition in sustainability reporting with the GRI Standards.

    Delegate must complete the required fundamental training courses in sustainability reporting and the GRI Standards and pass the final Certification Exam in GRI Academy to become a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, where delegate will be listed in the Directory of GRI Certified Sustainability Professionals on the GRI website.

    How will i benefit?

    By the end of this training course, you will be able to:

    • Explain the purpose and structure of the GRI standards and how they contribute to better reporting
    • Identify the key concepts and reporting principles for reporting in accordance with the GRI Standards
    • Describe the process for identifying impacts and determining material topics including human rights
    • Explain how to use the GRI Sector Standards to report in accordance with the GRI Standards
    • State the relevance of human rights and human rights transparency to business
    • Discuss the disclosures related to human rights, including the requirements and guidance
    • Explain the current trends in the sustainability reporting landscape including the concept of double materiality
    • Name the key reporting instruments currently shaping the landscape and describe their purpose, their main similarities and differences and illustrate how they are aligned
    • Summarize how the main reporting instruments can be used in conjunction and justify why an organization may want to do this and identify which reporting instruments are best suited to an organization’s reporting goals
    • This course is interactive and includes sharing of best practices and case studies. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

      • Explain the modular system of GRI Standards and its key concepts as foundation for sustainability reporting
      • Understand the GRI Standards and the reporting process requirements
      • Conduct materiality assessments and stakeholder engagements
      • Apply the GRI Standards disclosures by analysing practical examples and local case studies
      • Understand the different perspectives of materiality contributing to the number of instruments available and how they converge in the reporting landscape
      • Apply GRI Sector Standards to address challenges associated with reporting, to identify a sector’s most significant impacts and meet stakeholder expectations
      • Sustainability, Health, Environment, Safety, Energy and / or Climate Change professionals
      • Personnel from HR; Corporate Communications; Marketing; Procurement and operations
      • Representatives from legal and statutory bodies
      • Consultants, Assessors, NGO’s and Postgraduate students
    • There are no formal prerequisites, however it will be useful for delegates to read the relevant standards before attending the course. A basic understanding of sustainability topics would be helpful.

    • The certification exam consists of 40 questions of various types (single choice, multiple choice, true/false, complete the sentence) with a time limit of 60 minutes for completion and requires a score of 75%.

    • On completion, you will be awarded an internationally recognized GRI approved training certificate.
