International projects

For the last 20 years BSI’s International Projects team has been working in more than 50 developing countries and transition economies to deliver technical assistance projects. These projects improve their quality infrastructure systems and help them follow best practice. We work with their institutions responsible for standardisation; certification and conformity assessment; testing laboratories; metrology; accreditation; market surveillance; consumer protection; technical regulation; and quality control, as well as SMEs, to help them do this.

Funded by donors, the technical assistance projects cover a wide range of sectors including manufacturing and processing, construction, food safety, medical devices, chemicals, environment, energy and low carbon technology, ICT, services, procurement and governance.

Our team is made up of experienced development specialists, project managers and international consultants, who carry out a range of activities including providing policy advice and recommendations, organising specialised seminars and workshops, undertaking studies, and drafting updated legislation and regulations.

Ultimately our goal is to help countries introduce the standards that they need to compete and trade in global markets.
