Grand Hyatt Hong Kong was awarded ISO 22000:2018 certification

23 October 2019

Grand Hyatt Hong Kong ("Grand Hyatt") has successfully granted the first ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System certificate by BSI Hong Kong. The certificate presentation ceremony was held on 23 October 2019. Mr Enoch Lee, the General Manager of BSI Hong Kong presented the certificate to Mr Richard Greaves, the General Manager cum Area Vice President of Grand Hyatt.

Food safety is always a top priority in hospitality and catering industries. The World Health Organization(WHO) estimates that 1 in 10 people fall ill and 420,000 die because of contaminated food every year. ISO 22000 works preventively to reduce this by helping food organizations implement food safety management systems that defend against the potential hazards and risks that lead to contamination.

The new version of ISO 22000 was released last year to replace 2005 version. It has a stronger emphasis on the responsibility of leadership. Therefore, the achievement of Grand Hyatt has demonstrated top management's leadership and commitment with respect to the food safety management system. It also demonstrates that Grand Hyatt has complied with customer, statutory and regulatory compliance, which can eventually improve its risk management and increase customer, stakeholder and consumer's confidence in its products.
