During 2016 and early 2017, BSI worked on a study which confirmed that the widespread adoption of digital standards and good practice is a critical element in accelerating change in the manufacturing sector. BSI used this as input to the standards strand of the Made Smarter Review. This work focussed on defining the immediate and long-term optimal landscape of standards to accelerate the capability and competitiveness of the UK’s digital manufacturing supply chains, leading to the development of world-class, end to end solutions. As a next step, Innovate UK is sponsoring BSI for the development and publication of a Smart Factories Roadmap and needs the ‘voice of UK manufacturing’ to be heard and understood through these workshops.
Digitising factories is a key element in the digital transformation of UK manufacturing and there is a need for clarity as to how these companies will maintain and enhance their quality management systems, and also maintain compliance with the evolving requirements of their customers in the supply chain. This will require an understanding of what current standards are relevant to digital manufacturing and a roadmap of new standards which are required to address obstacles to adoption or fill to gaps in the portfolio.
We are particularly interested in talking with SMEs or individuals that are interested in digital technologies - to understand the obstacles to adopting digital technologies. We are holding an additional workshop in April taking place in London on Tuesday 23rd April 2019.
Please register your interest by 18th April and we’ll send you further details.
