Qatar Petroleum’s Drilling Department achieves OHSAS 18001:2007 certification

Qatar Petroleum’s Drilling Department has become the first within QP to obtain an internationally recognised certificate for occupational health and safety management system. 

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, with Mr. Talib Abdulla Al-Mehana Al-Murri, Operations Manager Drilling, Qatar Petroleum, and Mr. Theuns Kotze, Regional Managing Director, BSI Group

Under the auspices and in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry, Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, the Drilling Department of Qatar Petroleum was awarded the OHSAS 18001-2007 Certificate in recognition of the Department’s implementation of internationally recognized and foremost assessment specification for Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

The certificate was awarded by the British Standard Institution (BSI) following a series of assessment audits. The impressive award ceremony was attended by QP’s Director of Operations,Mr. Said Mubarak Al-Mohannadi and QP senior managers on the 6th of June 2011. The certificate was presented by Mr. Theuns Kotze, Regional Managing Director BSI Group to Mr. Talib Abdulla Al-Mehana Al-Murri, the Operations Manager Drilling.

H.E. the Minister commended the Drilling staff for their achievement, dedication and commitment to HSE values. Mr. Al-Murri reiterated Drilling Department’s commitment to excellence in operational HSE performance, commenting that the Drilling Department is the first department in Qatar Petroleum certified to OHSAS-18001 and to the integrated management system of “Quality, Environment and Occupational Health and Safety”. Mr. Al-Murri expressed his appreciation to َQatar Petroleum’s Corporate Health, Safety and Environment Department for their continuous support.
