Anne Hayes heads up the BSI Knowledge team leading the Sector strategies to ensure UK and global innovation and policy are supported with relevant standards. Having spent 19 years working within the standardization world she has experience across a broad range of industries and sectors having headed up teams for Governance, Risk and resilience as well as healthcare and Sustainability. In the recent months Anne has led the BSI Knowledge response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Previously to BSI Anne was Editorial Director at Sweet & Maxwell Ltd.

Ryan Lynch, the Director of BSI’s Sustainability Practice, has worked with organizations across multiple regions and industries to design creative solutions to drive organizational improvement, improve upon social/environmental impacts, and mitigate and remedy risks. He leads BSI’s strategy to align their standards, services, technology and global resources to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He and his team work with their clients to develop and deliver innovative approaches related to clean energy and climate action, circular economy and waste, decent work in global supply chains, among other challenging areas.

BEIS published Growing the Bioeconomy: a national Bioeconomy strategy to 2030 in 2018. Since its publication we have seen the development of several Government priorities where the Bioeconomy could hold solutions. My team’s role is to work with industry, academia and Government stakeholders to understand the barriers and potential of the Bioeconomy, to allow it to continue to grow and to keep the UK in a world-leading position for technological developments in this area.

In mid-2017, I ‘sea-changed’ to Innovate UK as the lead for Industrial Biotechnology (‘IB’) within the High Value Manufacturing, Materials & Mobility sector team. Here, I oversee a diverse project portfolio across the IB and Bioeconomic landscape supported by both UK and EU funding, and act as an advocate for our business stakeholders, BEIS and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult.

I am originally from Melbourne, Australia and my background covers over 35 years in H&LS, specifically human stem cell research, product development & marketing and their therapeutic applications. I also managed facility operations, business partnering & contract technology transfers.

Paul is CEO of AIM listed sustainable technology business, Biome Technologies Plc. He joined in 2007 and has since taken the company’s breakthrough science from laboratory to commercial operations and built a fast-growing entity focused on the bioplastics market.

He chairs the Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum (IBLF) which acts as a visible point of strategic coordination of the UK’s fast growing industrial biotechnology sector through a grouping of active participants from industry, the research community, public access scale-up facilities, funding agencies, government and other key stakeholders. He also chairs the the UKRI BBSRC Bioscience for the Renewable Resources and Clean Growth Strategy Advisory Panel.

With extensive experience of value generation in public market and private equity environments, business turnaround/reorganisation and driving profitable sales growth, Paul has broad sector exposure spanning chemicals/fine chemicals(ICI, Courtaulds), FMCG manufacturing, electrical equipment and life sciences/biotechnology, with a recent focus on sustainable technologies.

Paul has a firm belief that the development of the UK's technological and manufacturing industries, particularly in the field of biotechnology, holds the key to future growth and prosperity, as well as being integral to improved global welfare.

Liz joined IBioiC in March 2021 as Director of Business Engagement and Operations, managing the day-to-day operational aspects of IBioIC. She helps shape the Innovation Centre’s strategy, helping to deliver its key aims of building new opportunities and accelerating commercialisation.

Liz has had a varied career across the life sciences and biotechnology sectors from research roles in academia (Sydney, Toronto and Cambridge, UK) and the biotech industry. She then spent 6 years as a science and business writer and editor (FT and Nature Biotechnology) before venturing into technology transfer (University of Southampton). She moved to Scotland to work for ITI Lifesciences as a technology and market analyst, transferring to Scottish Enterprise as an analyst in the life sciences sector team. For the past 7 tears, Liz has enjoyed managing the University of Edinburgh’s engineered biology research centres.

Liz graduated with a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Neuropharmacology from the University of London.

She loves to spend time with her partner and son, enjoys running, walking, travel and gardening, and has a small flock of crazy hens.
