Glazing Summit 2019

The Glazing Summit was held at Edgbaston Stadium, Birmingham on 12 September 2019.

A relatively new event in the fenestration industry calendar aimed at industry leaders, including business owners, directors and senior management, this was a follow-up to the inaugural summit which was held in May 2018.

The event was jointly hosted by Purplex Marketing and Insight Data, both part of The Ascot Group who are leading providers of marketing and PR services to the UK construction, fenestration and glazing industries.

The Glazing Summit was a full day packed with more than 20 keynotes speakers and panellists tackling the biggest issues facing the industry from consolidation, mergers & acquisitions through to smart technology and the latest trends. This was followed by a Leaders Dinner in the evening.

BSI were invited to take part in the debate entitled “regulations, accreditations and rogue traders” and our Technical Development Manager, Mark Barsby joined a panel of 3 experts from Fenestrology and The Glass and Glazing Federation. The panel covered a range of subjects on how certification might be affected in future as a result of the Grenfell Tower Fire, the role of professional bodies and trade associations in ensuring installers working on buildings have the right education and qualifications, through to fire safety and the building regulations.

The questions were asked by the event compare, including audience interaction utilising Slido where the 320 delegates were able to pose questions via their smart phones which could be viewed on monitors around the venue including the stage big screen.

Mark commented, ”the event was extremely professional, well presented and supported. A good selection of our fenestration customers were in the audience and therefore important that we were at the forefront, participating in a forum with leaders who are shaping the future of the industry.”
