3-week, fast track service

The ISO 14001:2004 standard has been updated and replaced by ISO 14001:2015. Companies must migrate to the new ISO 14001:2015 standard system THIS YEAR, by the September 14, 2018 deadline.

Major change creates known gap

One major change in the standard requires companies to link their Environmental Management System (EMS) to the external realities affecting their company—specifically the new Clause 4.

This section of ISO 14001:2015 is brand new, never having previously been required.

Clause 4 can include elements such as climate change, storms and floods, air quality, water quality, land use, existing contamination, natural resource availability, biodiversity, cultural, social, political, regulatory, financial, economic, natural and competitive issues, whether international, national, regional or local. Clause 4 also requires that companies include all of the organization’s activities, products, services, strategic direction and capabilities (people, knowledge, processes and systems). It is a complex strategic requirement that will be a gap finding since prior to now, companies have not been required to gather all this information under ISO 14401:2004.

BSI’s ISO 14001:2015 Accelerator Pre-Certification Consulting Package* includes a gap assessment, planning tool and full completion of Clause 4 (new contextual analysis section) by an ISO 14001 lead auditor. BSI will conduct an onsite visit and quickly deliver robust recommendations for migration to the new standard.*

* BSI’s ISO 14001:2015 Accelerator Pre-Certification Consulting Package is a consulting program only. It does not include certification to the new ISO 14001:2015 standard. Participation in BSI’s ISO 14001:2015 Accelerator does not guarantee that your company will successfully attain certification to the new ISO 14001:2015 standard. In order to seek certification under the new ISO 14001:2015 standard, an ISO 14001:2015 Accelerator purchaser will have to engage a Certified Body (CB) other than BSI for that purpose and to ensure there is no conflict of interest.
