Martin is Group Technical Assurance and Quality Director, with overall responsibility for quality management and technical governance across Lloyd’s Register, one of the world’s leading providers of professional services for engineering and technology – improving safety and increasing the performance of critical infrastructures world-wide.  

Martin is an engineering risk management specialist.  He began his career in the nuclear industry, undertaking risk assessment and safety case preparation before joining Lloyd’s Register in 1990, to undertake both nuclear and non-nuclear risk management studies.  He has risk assessment and safety management experience across many major hazard industries.

Martin has contributed to the development of several OH&S management system standards including OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001, and the ISO 55000 series on Asset Management.

Martin is a member of BSI’s Management Systems Expert Group.  He chaired the BSI mirror committee throughout the development of ISO 45001, leading the UK delegation on the ISO 45001 project committee.  He now chairs the ISO technical committee for occupational health and safety management (ISO/TC 283), which owns ISO 45001 and is developing additional standards and guidance on OH&S management.

Dr Hillary Bennett is a director of Leading Safety, a consultancy specialising in the leadership of safety and wellbeing, the assessment and development of safety and wellbeing culture, human factors, and workplace safety and wellbeing.  She is a registered psychologist and has 38 years’ experience in consulting to organisations, both large and small, in the private and public sector.  In 2019, she received the SafeGuard  lifetime achievement award  for her pioneering work in health & safety leadership and in the forestry sector in New Zealand.

Dr Priya Ragunath is Head of the Occupational and Environmental Health Sector in the Ministry of Health, Malaysia. She is a fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians Ireland and is both a public health occupational physician.

Dr Priya chairs the Society of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (SOEM) under the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and is president of the Society of Occupational Physicians (MSOP). She is also an examiner and lecturer for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians, Ireland.

Dr Priya is involved in the development of numerous guidelines pertaining to Occupational Health both in the Ministry of Health and in ISO.

Dr Priya is in charge of the KOSPEN PLUS programme which focuses on wellness in the workplace. The programme aims to reduce the impact of non-communicable diseases through health screening, healthy eating, active living, weight management, smoke free workplaces, healthy mind, healthy work environment and prevention of alcohol morbidity. The programme is provided through the Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia and is also offered to other governments and private organizations.

Stavroula Leka PhD is Emeritus Professor of Work & Health Policy at the University of Nottingham in the UK and Full Professor of Work Organization & Well-being at the Business School of University College Cork in Ireland. Stavroula is Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health and of the Higher Education Academy, incoming President of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology and Board member of the International Commission on Occupational Health. She is technical co-author of PAS1010 on psychosocial risk management in the workplace and Project Co-convenor for ISO 45003: Psychological health and safety at work — Guidelines for managing psychosocial risks.

Dr. Tatenda Nyenda is a Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, Quality and Sustainability Consultant at SHEMS Consultancy, for which he is a director and founder. He has over a decade’s experience in management systems auditing and training experience, with particular focus on the mining sector.

Dr. Tatenda Nyenda is the founder of the Zimbabwe Mine Environment Research Network Trust and assists organizations in developing and implementing ISO based SHEQ management systems. He chairs the Zimbabwe national mirror committee to ISO TC 283 on occupational health and safety. Dr. Tatenda Nyenda is also a university lecturer who brings a “standards approach” to academia, particularly in the area of total risk management.

Dr Tatenda Nyenda is currently facilitating regional research and exchange on OH&S issues and use of standards to create a database that will be used to report and advise on matters affecting the region.

Bruno Melckmans is since a few weeks retired from the FGTB, the Belgian socialist workers union.

For more than 20 years, he was an advisor to the FGTB research department, more specifically in charge of occupational health and safety and in standardization.

Bruno was also member of the Board of Directors of the NBN, the Belgian National Bureau of Standardization.

Within the framework of social dialogue Bruno was a as social partner member of the Council for Prevention and Protection at Work (occupational health and safety policy), one of the official Belgian consultation bodies within the competence of the Minister for Employment and its Federal Public Service Employment, Work and Social Dialogue.

Bruno participated in 4 International Labour Conferences of the ILO which led to the adoption of an International Convention on Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health (2006) and 2 internationals Recommendations, one on the same Promotional Framework and the second concerning HIV and AIDS and the World of Work (2010)

He was also attached during a legislature (2011-2014) to the Secretary of State in charge of occupational risks.

As a trade union advisor, he has also collaborated with the ETUC (European Trade Union Confederation), and is currently an expert-consultant for this confederation in the field of standardization among others in relation to occupational health and safety, corporate social responsibility.

Kris De Meester is first adviser at the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium covering the field of health and safety at work as well as international social affairs. He holds a degree in chemical and agricultural engineering (University of Leuven 1989) as well as a master in business administration (University Louvain-La-Neuve 1990) and special degrees in environmental sciences and safety and health at work.

He is the employer’s group spokesperson in the European Commission’s Advisory Committee on Safety and Health at Work. He is the chairman of the Health and Safety working group of BusinessEurope, the Union of Industrial and Employers Confederations of Europe. He is also co-chairing the IOE (International Organization of Employers) Taskforce on the Future of Work.

Kris is a member of the governing board and the bureau of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA Bilbao), the governing board of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Dublin), the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization (ILO Geneva), the Governing Body of the International Training Centre of the ILO in Turin, the GOSH (Global OSH network of the International Organisation of Employers), the National Council for Prevention and Protection at Work in Belgium and the National Council the Protection against Fire and Explosion in Belgium.

He is also CEO of the organization Contractor Safety Management that operates B2B contractor safety management schemes in Belgium (BeSaCC: Belgian Safety Criteria for Contractors and VCA-SCC: Safety health and environment Checklist Contractors) with approximately 3000 certified companies and 100.000 workers and supervisors trained on a yearly base.

Isabel Maya leads OH&S management and analysis of strategic international trends in OH&S for Mutua Universal. She represents the Spanish national standards body, UNE in ISO/TC 283, contributing to the development of a number of OH&S management standards.

Throughout her professional career, she has acted as employers representative in working parties organized by several EU and Spanish institutions. Currently, she represents European and Spanish employers in several institutions related to OH&S.

Norma McCormick is founder and principal of Corporate Health Works, Inc.  She is a member of CSA’s Public Safety Strategic Steering Committee and has participated on several CSA Technical Committees. At the international level, she chairs the Canadian  Mirror Committees and leads the Canadian delegations to two ISO Technical Committees: TC 292 - Security and Resilience and PC 283 that developed ISO 45001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System.  She served as Convenor of ISO TC 283, Working Group 2, responsible for ISO 45003 - Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. For her volunteer contribution to CSA standards development, Norma received CSA’s Award of Merit in June 2006.

Ivan is the General Director of SIP Asesores en Riesgos, a company based in Mexico which is dedicated to advising organizations on risk management.

With a background in chemical engineering and law, Ivan has a long career as a risk manager in various industries including insurance, manufacturing and the petrochemical sector. He is a published author and teaches at many universities, including UNAM, the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Ivan is an experienced lead auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and is head of delegation to ISO/TC 283 for the Mexican national standards body.

As BSI’s global occupational health, safety and wellbeing expert, with over 20 years’ experience across all sectors, Kate uses her expertise to drive BSI’s global strategy for creating a safer and healthier workplace. An ambassador for cultural change, that puts well-being, equality, safety and health at the forefront, Kate inspires colleagues and stakeholders globally to make a difference. 

Kate started her career over 20 years ago with  the Health and Safety Executive (UK) as a regulatory Inspector before moving into policy, leading initiatives to tackle health risks. Kate then moved into the private sector working successfully as a consultant and has experience across most industry sectors. An experienced trainer and qualified lecturer Kate has developed training products, written techncial guidance and articles and regularly speaks at conferences.

Sally is BSI’s Lead Standards Development Manager for business improvement and occupational health and safety management. She is responsible for working with both national and international experts to develop documents that help organizations of all types to improve the way they operate and to better protect the people who work for them.

Sally engages with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the widest possible views are taken into account when the UK inputs to international standards and frequently holds public meetings to encourage users of the standards to raise issues and propose improvements.

Sally is the manager  of the ISO technical committee responsible for the world’s first international standard on occupational health and safety management, ISO 45001, and is actively involved in the development of ISO 45003 (guidance on psychological health and safety at work) which will also be the first globally agreed standard of its type.
